Collaborations with Headspace<\/strong>, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital<\/strong>, the LHD Ketamine Clinic<\/strong>, the Australian Twin Registry<\/strong>, and the International Centre for Responsible Gambling<\/strong> have enabled me to make significant contributions to research on mental health, gambling addiction, obesity, and the genetic determinants of decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mental health<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Responsible gambling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Obesity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Genetic determinants of decision making<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Thanks to a very talented PhD student Xueting Wang, we collaborated with four high schools in China to better understand impatience and risk taking in adolescence:<\/p>\n\n\n\n I wrote a collection of papers on risk-taking and impatience in adolescence, some of the findings are summarised in these non-academic publications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I am particularly fond of our publication in the Frontiers for Young Minds<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, a journal where children are the reviewers. We wrote this paper for the inaugural issue promoted at the the 2014 USA Science and Engineering Festival<\/strong>. It was featured on the Scientific American Blog Network.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I collaborated with two iconic arts institutions to better understand motives for giving and educate visitors about their risk-taking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Marian Koshland Science Museum of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, Washington, DC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I enjoy sharing my research with non-academic audiences. The situation around COVID-19 was evolving at an astounding rate. Thinking beyond the physical health ramifications to the mental health, anxiety, communication and sense-making aspects, our panel looked at what\u2019s going on and do their best to make sense of the rapidly shifting series of events.
